Linear motor cartridges are becoming the standard in microneedling because they offer consistent needle velocity regardless of handpiece angle or skin resistance. But not all linear motors perform the same way. We test every linear motor driver before it goes into our cartridge assembly line.
Test Measures Force
The test measures force output across the full stroke at 12 different positions. The spec is ±3% linearity across the stroke. If a driver measures outside ±3%, it goes back to the supplier.
Incoming Drivers Fail
About 8% of incoming drivers fail this test. Why does linearity matter? A non-linear motor applies more force at the bottom of the stroke than at the top.
Means First Needle
This means the first needle row may not fully penetrate while the last row over-penetrates. The clinical result is uneven treatment, which the practitioner interprets as a technique issue when it is actually a hardware issue. We publish our motor linearity curves for OEM partners who request them.
Data Covers Stroke
