A microneedling cartridge is not a complex device by medical standards. It is a plastic hub, a needle array, a sealing membrane, and a sterile pouch. Four components.

Manufacturing Tolerances Required

But the manufacturing tolerances required to make those four components work together reliably are tighter than most injection molding shops can hold. Take the hub. It is an injection-molded part with a typical wall thickness of 0.8mm to 1.2mm.

Mold Must Maintain

The mold must maintain cavity temperature within ±5°C across a 32-cavity tool to prevent warpage. Warpage as small as 0.1mm in the hub flange causes the cartridge to sit unevenly on the handpiece adapter, which shifts the needle exposure angle by up to 2 degrees relative to the skin surface. Each Cavity Individually

Each cavity is individually monitored. If any cavity drifts outside the ±5°C window, the machine rejects that cavity’s output automatically. The result: our hub flange flatness holds within 0.05mm across all cavities.

That consistency translates directly to needle exposure uniformity in the assembled cartridge.
